What an incredible week!

What can I say? Wow! The response to Dragons' Den has been absolutely beyond anything I ever imagined.  I'm still working my way through the thousands of emails and responding to all the pre orders and questions you've asked me about VITILIGLOW™. Please bear with me and I promise to get back to you all. I have updated the FAQ's on my website so please check on there if you have any questions in the meantime.

It's been an emotional week for me since the show launched, not only being blown away by all the support, but by how so many people have opened up to me about the condition and how it makes them feel. Many people can and have accepted the loss of pigment to their skin, but I couldn't and felt I lost my confidence as the patches grew in size and number.

I am glad that opening up about my feelings on the show has helped other people to feel more positive. Many people told me that they were so pleased to find that a solution did exist, which was what I wanted to achieve.

One email that did catch my eye was from the producer of a Channel 4 TV show. They're looking for people with visual medical conditions including Vitiligo to raise awareness and see if the latest medical and cosmetic procedures can be used to treat and minimise certain conditions.

The show will be presented by Katie Piper, ambassador for Changing Faces. Katie, who has undergone numerous operations and procedures herself, will be mentoring all the participants.

The producer has asked me to take part in the show, which I'll do and I've offered to use my blog to see if anybody else is interested in taking part (you need to be aged 18 or over though).  I must say that opening up about the condition and how it makes me feel is something I usually feel really uncomfortable about. It's taken years for me to feel comfortable in my own skin again, but I am OK with putting myself out there if it raises awareness of Vitiligo.

If you are interested in taking part in the show, please contact me and I'll pass your details onto the producers.  I hope that the VITILIGLOW™ social media pages and blog can help to bring people with Vitiligo together, from those who are happy and confident to show their patches to those who want the support of others.  There's a lot of us out there with Vitiligo and I hope that, whatever you choose to do with your patches, you feel happy and confident in your own skin.

Best wishes
Polly

Did I survive the Den?

Being in the den was a surreal experience, but once the panic subsided, I got into my stride and started telling the Dragons who I was and the reasons why I was there.  Those of you that know me and who have been reading my blog for a while will know that VITILIGLOW™ is a real labour of love for me; I've turned having Vitiligo into something positive and I feel so strongly that people with the condition should have a good quality product to cover their patches evenly, if that’s what they choose to do.

Luckily, the Dragons saw this and I liked my honesty and passion for the product, which was what I wanted to achieve.  Saying that, I wasn’t given an easy ride and I was asked lots of tricky questions.  Luckily the prep I did paid off and I held my own. At one point I was so relaxed that I admitted that I forgot the reason why I was there!

I’m now working on a new and improved formula with a better and more accurate application method.  If you wanted to register your interest for VITILIGLOW™ then keep in touch with us using the Contact Form.

I’d love to hear your thoughts from the show so please Facebook or Tweet me.  If you haven't already joined in the conversation on Twitter you can use the hashtag #VitiliglowDD.

I’m so glad I survived the Den and lived to tell the tale.

Best wishes

Into the Dragon's Den

I’ve got something really exciting to tell you all!  Many months ago, I was persuaded by a friend to apply for Dragon’s Den to secure the investment I needed to help me improve VITILIGLOW™.  So, with the help of a glass or two of wine, we filled out the application form.  I had no idea that I would one day be asked to appear on the show!

The first stage was a discussion with the producer.  When I picked up the call in the office, I nearly fell over!  I auditioned in January and then got a call to say I was through to the ACTUAL show.

There was so much prep work to do; my financials, projections, marketing plans…the list went on and on and I had to be prepared to talk about any little detail that they might ask about.  After weeks of work and committing everything to memory, I was ready to head up to Manchester…and in to the Den!

In the green room, I was so nervous; I actually thought I was going to pass out.  The other five contestants all had large, impressive looking products and stands; all I had were my five bottles of VITILIGLOW™. I literally almost bottled out (geddit) at that point, but it was too late as I was already in the lift...then the doors opened, I could see the dragons sat there…and in I went.

What happened next?  Well, I’ll have to let you know on Sunday night!  Tune in to watch the show on BBC2at 8pm and visit my blog again at 9pm after the show has aired to find out more.  I’d love to hear your thoughts from the show so please Facebook or Tweet me.  There is a hashtag we’re using for the show #VitiliglowDD – follow the conversation online!

Best wishes
