FAQ
How should I apply VITILIGLOW®?
You can take a look at my blog post, or visit our dedicated Applying VITILIGLOW® page.
Will VITILIGLOW® rub off on clothes?
VITILIGLOW® has been formulated to adhere to the skin and contains a fixer to help it to set to prevent it rubbing off onto clothing however a small amount might come off onto the armpit area or lining of clothes. Please take care when applying VITILIGLOW® as it can be difficult to remove from light coloured clothing.
How long will a bottle last me?
VITILIGLOW® comes in 100ml bottle with a lotion pump applicator. Depending on the size and the extent of your patches of de-pigmented skin and whether or not you use it on a daily basis will affect how long the bottle will last you. On average most customers (myself included) who use it daily (mostly on the bits that show) get at least four weeks use out of it.
Can VITILIGLOW® be used by children?
There is nothing in the VITILIGLOW® formula which is considered harmful to children. However, as a mother of two children myself, I feel that when they are young it is very important to promote a positive body image, rather than children feeling they need to ‘cover up’ the real them and rely on cosmetics from an early age. However, as a sufferer myself, I appreciate that there are times when children may be self-conscious and wish to cover their patches. VITILIGLOW® can be used for this purpose.
I am in the process of planning a discussion board for children and young people living with vitiligo and other skin conditions. If you or a family member are interested in this, please flag your interest to me by contacting me at [email protected]
Can you wear VITILIGLOW® to go swimming?
VITILIGLOW® is water resistant but it’s not recommended that long periods of time are spent in chlorinated or salt water. When washing hands, it's best to wash the palms with soap and rinse the tops of your hands under water or use a hand sanitizer/wet wipe. Always pat dry and avoid rubbing at your skin.
Does VITILIGLOW® contain talc?
Yes. The talc is ultra pure and totally asbestos free and certified. Also it is bound within the formulation so inhalation issues do not exist.
Can you apply suntan cream?
VITILIGLOW® contains SPF 30 and has a 5* UVA/UVB rating. If you require extra protection from the sun then suntan lotion can be applied first, allow drying time before applying VITILIGLOW®. VITILIGLOW® recommends using a dry mist spray on suntan lotion in order to prevent the skin from becoming 'greasy'.
Can VITILIGLOW® be used on sensitive skin?
Yes it can but it’s always advisable to test on a small patch of skin first. Do not apply to broken/irritated skin or open wounds. Stop use immediately should your skin show any signs of reaction/irritation and consult with your GP.
How do you apply VITILIGLOW®?
VITILIGLOW® is quick and easy to use on a daily basis. Shake the bottle well before you use it (allow the bottle to stand for a couple of minutes so the liquid can settle or you can loosen the top slightly to reduce and pressure) and then simply pump a small amount (the size of a 10p) out onto the palm of your hand or onto an applicator sponge/brush so that it can be applied directly to your white patches first. Please remember a little goes a long way and the best results are achieved by applying it in thin layers rather than one thick layer. I also recommend that you blend a little over the rest of the area of the face/body so that your patches blend in with your pigmented skin. Wait for it to dry thoroughly before dressing. Use wet wipes to remove any excess product from your palms.
Can you apply make up?
Apply VITILIGLOW® using a sponge/applicator or your fingertips. Apply a small amount of liquid on the de-pigmented patches first, building up coverage if needed, then blend a small amount to the rest of the area and allow to dry. Makeup can be applied as normal.
