New Shades in Stock

Picture
I’m delighted to announce that we have new shades in stock, all of which are available from the Vitiliglow™ store. This means that Vitiliglow™ not only has a shade to suit your skin colour, but also the undertones of your skin. We’ve worked really hard to improve the product and this time, I’m delighted to say that it’s absolutely spot on – the very best product that we could hope for.

Our new shades explained
Some of us have naturally warmer tones, which can give our skin slightly red or pink undertones. Others have cooler tones, which means your skin may have more of a cool, yellow/olive hue. With this in mind, we’ve created some new shades, offering a ‘warm’ and ‘cool’ version of each one. Also, we now offer three tan shades (tan light, tan medium, and tan dark). Whatever your skin tone, there’s a bottle of Vitiliglow™ to suit everyone!

Here’s the updated list of our 11 shades, which come in 30ml or 100ml bottles.
  • Light (warm)
  • Light (cool)
  • Medium (warm)
  • Medium (cool)
  • Tan (light)
  • Tan (medium)
  • Tan (dark)
  • Dark (warm)
  • Dark (cool)
  • Ebony (warm)
  • Ebony (cool)

The improved formula
With the updated shades also comes an improved Vitiliglow™ formula, meaning that it is even more water resistant, rub-proof and sweat-proof than before. This is all thanks to the increase in pigment levels of the formula, which I’m really pleased about. I never have to worry that the formula is going to rub off on my clothes, and I can trust that it won’t go patchy if it’s raining or while I’m working out in the gym.

The increase in pigment levels also means that Vitiliglow™ gives fantastic, effective coverage over any areas of depigmented skin (and it can also be used to cover healed burns and scars, too). I use Vitiliglow™ every day, and it stays put, giving a natural, even coverage over my pigmented skin.  We’ve also changed the bottles so the pumps are now much better, giving you a very controlled amount of product to work with.

The new formula does take slightly longer to dry than previous versions, but the benefit of this means you’ve got a bit longer to work with it, especially on those larger or more awkwardly placed patches, and then blend it in to get an even coverage before it dries. And remember, a little really does go a long way – the high concentration of pigment means you get an exceptional level of coverage and staying power!

Need help with removal?
If you use Vitiliglow™ regularly and you need something to help you remove it at night, that’s where our Prep/Remover product comes in. The new formula has such incredible staying power so the Prep/Remover really is a must if you want to make sure you get it all off! Also, be really careful about where you apply it as if you get any of the product on bedding or towels, it can be very difficult to remove – unless you have the Prep/Remover.

It’s called the ‘Prep/Remover’ product because it also helps with easy application of Vitiliglow™. Applying the formula will become second nature once you’ve done it a few times, but the Prep/Remover gel can be smoothed over the skin before applying Vitiliglow™ to help remove any skin and excess oils.

When you’re ready to remove the Vitiliglow™ product itself, use a cotton pad to wipe the Prep/Remover gel over your skin in small, circular motions. This will start to dissolve the Vitiliglow™ formula and remove it from your skin. It will leave your skin clean, hydrated and soft, ready for another application of Vitiliglow™ the next day.

Buy your shade of Vitiliglow™ today!
I’m so excited about our new shades as it means Vitiliglow™ is accessible to everyone, whatever colour or tone of skin you have. If you’re conscious of your depigmented areas of skin, Vitiliglow™ is there to give you your confidence back.

Vitiligo Society Open Day 2018 Follow-Up

Last weekend, we attended the Vitiligo Society Open Day, and what a great day it was! There was an absolutely fantastic turn-out, and I heard that all of the tickets sold out, which is brilliant and shows just how much support there is for people with vitiligo.

I had a VITILIGLOW™ stand at the event, and I was very happy to get a lot of interest in the product. I was excited to be able to meet lots of you and talk about our experiences with vitiligo, plus explain how VITILIGLOW™ can help you feel confident about your body and skin if, like me, you prefer to cover up your depigmented patches.

While I was there, I was also fortunate enough to meet with Lee Thomas (from Fox News), who spoke with me about living with vitiligo and what it’s like for him, being in the spotlight and on camera every day. Lee was just 25 when he first noticed that his skin was changing, and he explained that he covers up his depigmented patches when he’s on television because he wants people to listen to what he’s got to say rather than being distracted by his skin. It’s nothing to do with embarrassment or shame, but more that he doesn’t want vitiligo to take any focus away from the stories he’s reporting, because he understands that the skin condition can be distracting, especially for the thousands of viewers he gets on Fox News!

Friend of VITILIGLOW™, Joti, was also at the Society Open Day, and it’s always lovely to catch up with her. Joti was on the guest panel at the event, and she spoke about her experiences with vitiligo, alongside other inspiring guest speakers.

Another exciting piece of news discussed at the Open Day is that The Vitiligo Society are launching a new app called Skin Deep, which is FREE to download and use. This is such a fantastic opportunity for people with vitiligo. When I was first diagnosed, there was no social media recognition or digital support available, so this is a positive step towards all of us working together and collaborating to support each other!

The Skin Deep app offers guided meditation for people dealing with skin conditions. It provides professionally scripted meditations, therapeutic support for dealing with difficult emotions, and will even remind you when you haven’t meditated, so that you don’t forget to take some time out of your busy day and relax with the help of the app. It’s a known fact that meditation can help you gain control of tension by encouraging your body’s calming response. Many people meditate to help them feel less anxious, and to boost serotonin levels. I’m really pleased to hear that the app will soon be available to download – I’ll definitely be giving it a go! Visit http://skindeep.io/ for more information about the release date and the app itself.

Best wishes,
Polly x

Vitiligo Society Open Day 2018

VITILIGLOW™ is delighted to support the Vitiligo Society Open Day 2018. We’ll be exhibiting at the event in London on Saturday 1st December, which is sure to be a really exciting day. You can book your tickets here, but here’s the agenda for the day:

Lee Thomas (Emmy award-winning entertainment reporter, keynote speaker and patron of the Vitiligo Society) will be talking about dealing with vitiligo in Hollywood.

11:00-11:30
Simon Marlin will be hosting a talk on living with vitiligo in the spotlight. He’s one half of DJ duo, The Shapeshifters, and has lived with vitiligo for many years.

11:55-12:45
Vitiligo Society Trustee, Natalie Ambersley, will be hosting the guest panel discussion with some fantastic speakers, including friend of VITILIGLOW™, Joti. We’re excited about seeing Joti on stage, and this will be a great opportunity to bring people together to share their own experiences of vitiligo.

12:45-14:00
The 15-minute Annual General Meeting, then a lunch break.

14:00-14:45
Simon Parker will be presenting his ground-breaking mobile app called Skin Deep. It links meditation, breathing and emotional support for multiple skin conditions.

14:45-15:15
Award-winning photographer, Brock Elbank, will be hosting the Vitiligo Portrait Series Update and the 2020 WVD Exhibition.

15:15-15:30
Professor Celia Moss OBE will be presenting the newly-created Children’s Vitiligo booklet series, which will help children and young people understand and learn to accept their skin.

15:30-16:15
Fabio Zucchelli, research associate at UWE Bristol’s Centre for Appearance Research, will be discussing psychological flexibility.

16:30-17:10
Dr Viktoria Eleftheriadou is a specialist in vitiligo at the Centre of Evidence-Based Dermatology. She will be talking about the outcomes for vitiligo trials, which I’m sure will be a very interesting, informative discussion.

VITILIGLOW™ is keen to support the Vitiligo Society. We always enjoy coming along to meet new people and find out about the latest developments in research and the general support on offer. I’ve always found vitiligo to be a very personal journey – I prefer to keep my patches covered up, which led me to create VITILIGLOW™. Others are happy and comfortable in their own skin and don’t feel the need to cover up, and this is exactly what I love about the Vitiligo Society events. They bring together a wide range of people, and I’m always inspired by their stories and what’s brought them to come along for the day.

Having been on TV a few times and spoken quite openly about how vitiligo makes me feel, I’m really keen to hear more about Lee’s experience because he spends so much time in Hollywood, where perfection is the standard.

I’ll be at the Vitiligo Society Open Day with Bruce Green, the supplier of the VITILIGLOW™ products. If you’re planning on attending, you can book your ticket here!

Best wishes,

Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover Product

Picture
Picture
We’ve had so many positive responses from customers about Vitiliglow™ recently, which is brilliant. As you all know, I spend a lot of time working to make the product the very best it can be for us all, so to hear you say that it stays well on your skin and can be worn for days even with careful showering, means such a lot to me.

We recently launched our new Prep/Remover product to help you when you need to take Vitiliglow™ off. The Prep/Remover is a carefully developed, dual-purpose gel, designed to help you get the best out of the product. It’s fantastic to hear that you’re so pleased with the long-lasting hold of Vitiliglow™, but it is useful to be able to take off the camouflage product when you need to, or if you want to start a fresh application.

Prepping the skin
Firstly, use the Prep/Remover gel before applying your Vitiliglow™ camouflage cream. Gently smooth a thin layer of the gel over clean, dry skin to remove excess oils and build-up of debris or residual product left behind from previous Vitiliglow™ applications.

Once you’ve completed this step, your skin will be clean and prepped, ready for you to apply your chosen shade of Vitiliglow™.

Removing Vitliglow™
When you’re ready to remove Vitiliglow™, use a cotton pad to wipe the gel over your skin in small, circular motions. This will start to dissolve and remove Vitiliglow™ from your skin which really helps as we have designed the formula to be water resistant and rub proof. If you have larger areas covered with Vitiliglow™, you may want to use the Prep/Remover product on a larger cotton cloth or flannel.

The gel gently breaks down the product, allowing you to wipe it away easily, and preventing the need for any exfoliation or harsh rubbing, meaning your skin is left free from Vitiliglow™ but remains hydrated, clean and soft.

We’ve also discovered that the versatile Prep/Remover product can be used to remove Vitiliglow™ from your clothing or carpet, too! Simply rub the Prep/Remover into the fabric or upholstery and it’ll help to lift the camouflage product out.

Can anyone use the Prep/Remover?
The Prep/Remover product is suitable for all skin types and, as with all Vitiliglow™ products, it is cruelty-free. The product is also non-greasy, non-perfumed and non-drying, which means it keeps your skin feeling soft and supple, ready for your next Vitiliglow™ application.

Customer feedback
Customers are already talking about the Prep/Remover, and we’re delighted to hear your positive comments about the newly launched product. In September 2018, Julia let us know that she thinks it’s a “really useful product for removing all trace of previous applications and any residual grease on the skin.” Tracy also left us some feedback, saying that the product “preps the skin and removes all traces of Vitiliglow efficiently.”

Looking after our skin
Our skin accounts for around 15 per cent of our body weight. We each have around 300 million skin cells, and skin is the largest human organ. It’s important that we look after it, which is why all Vitiliglow™ products are carefully developed and thoughtfully formulated to keep skin healthy while helping you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin.

You can purchase the Prep/Remover product here.
