It was almost 20 years ago that I started to lose the pigment in my skin. I didn't know much about the skin condition Vitiligo when first diagnosed but as the white patches of depigmented skin started to get bigger in size and as more began to appear on my face and across my body (some in awkward places!), I started to look at ways to cover them up.  I was devastated about how my appearance was changing and how it was affecting my life.  As a sun-worshipper, I had to change my lifestyle as I couldn't go out in the sun any more so no more beach holidays for me. I liked having an all year round tan (with the help of a sunbed) and that had to stop too as a tan made the patches much more noticeable.  But the biggest impact was to my confidence - as my pigment disappeared, so did my confidence.  Every morning, I’d spend hours covering up my patches before leaving the house  - and with two small children to get to school, I had to find a time saving solution. It made me think - if I was a slave to my patches like this, were there other people out there like me?  What did everybody else do?  I knew there were lots of other people out there with Vitiligo - apparently 50 million worldwide.

I've tried every type of corrective cosmetic and sunless tanner going.  Some were better than others, but I found that nothing really did the job that well.  Corrective creams were expensive, not to mention time consuming to apply each day.  Sunless tanners turned me an orange colour and didn't do much to blend the patches.  For a number of years, I used a combination of products and continued searching albeit unsuccessfully to find "the perfect product."  In the end,  I decided I’d try with the help of a chemist & manufacturer to create an all in one product designed to meet the specific needs of people with Vitiligo.

Having the condition Vitiligo and choosing to cover my patches every day made me think about what I wanted from my product. I wanted it to be user friendly, give value for money  and contain an SPF to allow me to enjoy a little bit of sunshine safely.  It had to be quick to apply before I went to work, rub proof so it didn’t come off on my clothes, sweat proof, I’m a gym go-er  so it had to stand up to a workout and be easy to take off at night.

Developing VITILIGLOW™ has put me in touch with lots of fellow patchy people - through my blog, social media and online forums - and it’s been great to share photos and find out how other people cope with having Vitiligo.  I always appreciate getting feedback about VITILIGLOW™ and love to see the before and after pictures which I put on my website and Facebook page to show others what great results can be achieved using Vitiliglow. Since I launched Vitiliglow in 2013, I’ve taken on board all of the feedback I‘ve been given from customers and have now updated the formula and improved the application method so that people with Vitiligo now have a  product we truly deserve.

For me, VITILIGLOW™ is 'confidence in a bottle' and I hope it helps you to blend in your patches so that you feel as good and as confident about your skin as I do.

Best wishes
