Last week, we did a photoshoot for Vitiliglow™ and met the fabulous Joti Gata-Aura. Joti has had vitiligo for most of her adult life and like me, has struggled with the impact it has had on her confidence and self-esteem. As a mum of two young children, Joti is very conscious about her patches and how her children see them. Luckily, they are very accepting and have given her the confidence to go out without covering up. This confidence is actually a great thing for her to pass on to her children, especially if they go on to inherit the condition. It is thought that one in five people with Vitiligo is related to somebody with the condition although the exact prevalence rate hasn’t yet been calculated.
Please take a look at Joti’s story and check out her Instagram page @vitiliglo_and_me to find out more about what she’s doing to raise awareness of vitiligo in the British press.
The subject of this year’s World Vitiligo Day is around young people and I’m often asked by parents who’s children have vitiligo whether Vitiliglow™ is appropriate for them to use. This is a really tricky area – obviously no parent wants their child to be distressed and it is a personal choice as to whether you allow your child to use a camouflage cover or not. My advice is to speak to your child about the condition and look at the range of resources available so that children can understand why they don’t look the same as their friends and classmates. There’s a great guide from the Vitiligo Society that will explain how to cope with vitiligo is your child has it, plus social media has really started to raise awareness of the condition – particularly high profile people like Winnie Harlow, who is making Vitiligo more mainsteam now.
If you are the parent of a child with the condition, I would urge you to work on their self esteem and confidence before they start to cover up with a product and I really hope that the stories from Nike and Joti will help young people to accept life with a condition that they can’t control or change.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the videos! We’ll be doing lots more on Instagram over the coming months and have some new plans to engage with people via Facebook so keep looking out for us on social media. Happy World Vitiligo Day everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted on the Vitiliglow blog (we’ve had the pleasure of inviting lots of guests to feature on the blog recently) – so I thought it was about time that I gave you all an update on the latest product developments.
After a busy year I’m delighted to say that the full range of shades are now available in both the 30ml and 100ml size bottles. I’ve been working with the supplier to develop Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover - a fantastic product that can be used to help prepare your skin before applying Vitiliglow™ and to remove it once you're ready to take it off. Many people have contacted me to say that the latest formula is the best yet - it's extremely rub-proof and water resistant and that they’re able to get several days wear from it and if they’re careful, can have a shower and keep the coverage of Vitiliglow™ on their skin.
Whilst it’s amazing that the product is so long lasting, you may want to take it off and start afresh, or you may want to simply get the product off the palm of your hands after applying it. Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover breaks down the product from your skin, allowing you to wipe it away easily without having to ‘scrub’ at your skin.
Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover can also be used to cleanse your skin of any excess oil or built up debris leaving the skin super clean and silky soft. Vitiliglow™ cover cream can then be used straight away and is best applied in thin layers to white patches first, blending a little over the rest of the area. The new formula is great for people with sensitive skin, hypo-allergenic and non-perfumed and as with all our products it’s cruelty-free.
I apply the Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover to a cotton pad to remove any excess product from my fingernails and the palms of my hands. If I want to remove Vitiliglow™ from larger areas of my body, I use a large cotton cloth or a flannel, apply Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover to it and it breaks the product down really easily before jumping in the shower or bath.
Another benefit of the Vitiliglow ™ Prep/Remover is that you can clear any spills or marks on clothing or carpets if you have a little accident with the product. Although I'd always advise you to use an old towel to protect carpets and keep it away from your clothes, when applying it, sometimes a little accident happens and it marks fabric. The remover can be used to lift it from fabric and upholstery if the worst happens (which it did to me the other day).
You can order Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover here and it’s priced at £10.00 for a 100ml bottle. But don’t forget - it very powerful so a little goes a long way.
We are now offering some bundle deals with a 50% discount on the Vitiliglow™ Prep/Remover if you buy 2 100ml bottles of Vitiliglow™.

Just a quick post from me to see who is on Instagram? We've got an Instagram page that we've been running for quite a while now and we've just had a new post go up from our friend in South Africa, Jacques Terre'Blanche. Jacques wrote a great blog post for us a few months ago, talking about his experience of vitiligo and how he uses Vitiliglow™ to cover his patches.
Check Jacques Instagram post out here.
